Fabio Paris Art Gallery apre i battenti a Brescia nel maggio 2000. Sin dagli esordi, il suo programma non si concentra su un mezzo o su un'area territoriale specifica, tendendo piuttosto a rispecchiare la varietà e la complessità che caratterizzano il panorama artistico contemporaneo. Pertanto, la coerenza di questo programma non va cercata in una somiglianza superficiale tra gli artisti proposti, o in una banale analogia estetica, quanto piuttosto in una complessa rete di temi, idee, suggestioni, pensieri. Questi artisti si stanno muovendo alla ricerca di un'arte che sia più rappresentativa dell'era in cui stiamo vivendo, dove l'informazione e la comunicazione di massa hanno una forte incidenza sulla vita di tutti i giorni. Fabio Paris Art Gallery sceglie e propone lavori che parlano del presente: un presente in cui il rapporto dell'uomo con il suo ambiente e con la cultura viene continuamente ridefinito da nuove scoperte, nuove tecnologie, nuovi paradigmi di pensiero. La pervasività delle sottoculture pop (dai manga ai videogame); l'esplorazione di nuovi spazi di vita e di attività artistica, e di nuove declinazioni dell'identità (dalla Rete ai mondi virtuali); la relazione sempre più ambigua tra biologico e artificiale, e la conseguente ricerca di un rapporto più immediato, diretto e profondo con la natura; l'indagine delle conseguenze estetiche del digitale, e quella dell'impatto socio-culturale dei media; la riscoperta della macchina come metafora, simulacro o feticcio affettivo: sono solo alcuni dei temi che tessono la fitta trama su cui si fonda il lavoro della galleria. Fabio Paris Art Gallery coopera con musei e altre gallerie commerciali per promouovere gli artisti che collaborano con la galleria. The Fabio Paris Art Gallery opened in Brescia in May 2000. Its exhibition programme is not centred around any one form of expression or specific area, instead reflecting the variety and complexity of the contemporary artistic panorama. The coherence of the gallery’s programme should not therefore be sought in a superficial resemblance between the artists featured, or in a banal aesthetic analogy, but in a complex network of themes, ideas, atmospheres and thoughts. These artists are looking for a kind of art that is more representative of the era in which we are living, where information and mass communication have a strong influence on everyday life. The Fabio Paris Art Gallery selects and presents works that talk about the present: in a period when the relationship between man and the environment and culture is constantly being redefined by new discoveries, new technologies and new intellectual paradigms. The pervasive nature of popular subcultures (from manga to videogames); the exploration of new arenas for life and artistic activity, and new declinations of identity (from the internet to virtual worlds); the increasingly ambiguous relationship between the biological and artificial domains, and the consequent quest for a more immediate, direct, profound rapport with nature; the exploration of the aesthetic consequences of digital technology and the socio-cultural impact of the media, and the rediscovery of machine as metaphor, simulacrum or fetish, are but a few of the themes that form the basis of the gallery's work. Fabio Paris Art Gallery cooperates with museums and other commercial galleries to promote its artists exposure outside Brescia. It also publishes catalogues and artist monographs to provide a precise and rigorous context in which its artists can be viewed. |
